With my new schedule I have more free time in the day, which is great, because I can get things done that I *have* to do - laundry, dishes, returning library books - but I also have time to do what I *want* to do, which is strangely, a much more difficult prospect. Cause first, I have to figure out what I want to do.

Do I want to read a book? Write some fanfic? Write some real fiction? Put that rack on my bike? Take a bike ride? Skateboard? Take the dogs for a walk?  Play guitar hero? Eat? Go to a museum?  A gallery? A bookstore? The library? Reorganize the books in my house? Sit over here on the grass? Sit over there? Pursue a line of intellectual inquiry about feminine subject/objectivity on the L word?

All those things have been done or are on the list of things to do, but its been a more difficult adjustment than I expected. Not really getting to decide how your day is spent for years and years takes away some of the ability to know what the hell it is you want to do. Because your free time is all squeezed to the weekend and evenings, when only some options are open to you, and you have to combine chores and socializing into that time as well. Free, alone time...its just something I wasn't quite prepared for. I keep calling people on the phone.

I do like the time to read and write though. I've read like, 4 books in the past two weeks, and once I pay my library fines, I can get more! This is a thrill.

Writing...I can't believe that the other day I was like, ooh. I think I'm feeling like writing. That is this feeling I'm having. And I had the time to do it, to focus, without needing to rush off to some other responsibility. It was, at the risk of sounding incredibly lame, really freeing.

This idyll won't last though. When school starts again at the end of august, I'll have those responsibilities to think of, and that will help me structure my time.
